Civilian dress first pattern 1923 Royal Air Force pilot's wing. This wing is smaller than the miniature wings that were worn on the dress uniforms. These civilian wings were worn on the civilian jacket of the time to signify that the person was an active pilot.

1921 Badge of former Aviator Pilots at WW I
A series of specialist badges was instituted in 1920 that enabled non-flight personnel to have a badge denoting their specialty. Gold is for NCOs (sottufficiali). Silver is for what we call Other Ranks or junior enlisted (graduati e soldati). Thank you to Tod Rathbone for sharing these rare badges.
