Romania - Between The Wars

Click on the images to see a larger version and the back of the wing/badge
After the death of his father King Ferdinand in 1927 and the brief regency of his son Michael I, King Carol II, who had abdicated the Romanian crown following his elopement with his mistress, was asked to return and take the crown in in 1930. Carol abdicated the throne again in 1940 and was replaced by his son, Michael I.

The insignia of the Aeronautica Regala Romana (ARR), or the Romanian Royal Aeronautics incorporated the heraldry of the King Carol II, replacing the dual facing "F" cypher of the previous King Ferdinand. This was a pair of interlocking "C" cyphers facing away from each other.
