This is a CBI made badge. This style of badge was never authorized by the Army Air Force but there are several examples of base wings with an applied "R" that were worn in the CBI theater. This is one of the finest examples I've ever seen of these badges. This wing was owned by Radioman SSgt Harry B. Queen of the 14th AF, 308th BG, 425th BS. He was killed in action flying over the hump between China and India on Jan 25, 1944 on board the B-24 "Hot as Hell". He also had shot down a zero on a mission prior to that. The wing was theater made most likely in India.

This is an English made bullion badge. The USAAF did not have an official Radio Operator badge but apparently when these were made either the Brit's did not know it or a clever USAAF Crewman who operated a radio had them made up.
