This wing dates from the early to mid-1940s. Following the revolution, Raúl Vianello Alacan famously went on to fly B-26 bombers for the CIA-backed exile air force during the Bay of Pigs invasion of April 1961, was shot down over the beaches of Girón, and is confirmed KIA in the CIA's own declassified history of the operation. His name is permanently inscribed on the Bay of Pigs Monument in Miami.
