This is an RCAF Compass button.? Most of the allied air forces had these in some form or another.? Being a tunic button, it is more likely to be a fighter pilots and early war (later there were types to be used on the battle dress).? It is two piece, and once screwed together is undetectable.

According to Bill Hampson's book 'Canadian Flying Services Emblems and Insignia 1914 - 1984' this is the cap badge worn by bandsmen after the war, when three official bands were formed (previously they have been volunteer bandsman). The cap badge worn by wartime bandsmen were the same as the standard RCAF OR's cap badge, but in silver (either silver or silver plate). Matching buttons were also worn (standard RCAF but in silver) along with cloth arm insignia.
