This badge was awarded to Aloizs Vjakse in 1936. This is a graduation badge of the Latvian military aviation academy and was worn by both pilots and observers. Pilots who had spent "150+ hours over the front on a war footing" were qualified to receive the Pilot badge which was essentially the grad badge reversed in orientation (with minor and subtle changes).
