Warren's story on this badge: "These were produced for the Hungarian Air Force in the middle of the war. Normally they would have worn a bullion one that was sewn on. The uniforms they wore were the same as the army. When shot down on the Russian front they would throw away the wing and pretend they were army. Otherwise, they were shot on sight. Three bomber squadrons were totally wiped out. The story was told to me by a former Hungarian Army officer Mik Rethy." This is the gold version officer's badge.
