WW1 Regia Marina Pilota (Royal Italian Naval Pilot) NCO and warrant officer pilots, sleeve insignia. Total number of fully certified Italian naval pilots who saw front-line combat was only around 350 to 500 men. During World War I, the Italian Royal Navy (Regia Marina) operated a specialized aviation arm flying flying boats and seaplanes from coastal stations along the Adriatic Sea.
